Highback Welsh Stick Chair

Hand made using traditional techniques & locally sourced New Zealand grown hardwoods to produce a quality product to last a lifetime, while making the smallest footprint as possible.

Welsh Stick Chairs date back to the time of Hywel Dda (Howell the Good), a 10th century Welsh king & are an early form of Windsor chair with a largely undocumented history.

Pictured examples are in Elm, Black Walnut & also a combination of Ash, English Walnut & Elm.

W 510mm x D 405mm x H 415mm (Seat), 1010mm (Backrest). Finished with naturally derived oil & wax finishes.

As I hand make these chairs, & they are made to order, bespoke dimensions & custom adjustments can be made. I have a range of different timbers available, including Elm, White Ash & Black Walnut, or you may have your own timber you wish to use. Please get in touch to discuss your specific requirements & place your order.

One chair is currently available in Black Walnut.
